My daughter loves this game. I think it is more along the line of Mario games--great entertainment for all ages without having to worry about content. It isn't an action packed thriller. It doesn't have overwhelming, stunning graphics. I want my daughter to love her games but I do not want violence, language, etc. This is a good example of how a "wholesome" game can be a lot of fun and you don't need the other stuff. There are many levels to this game which holds my daughters attention as well.
We need more DK games available for DS. The first portion seems very difficult, but once you get to the 2nd portion, it makes the first portion seem very easy. Unlike the original, this game gives you unlimited challenge. One tip: gather as many lives as you can because you'll need them for the end of the first challenge. Challenges, challenges. A VERY fun game for everyone. And the second portion: Having a lot of lives to begin will helps - you'll need them. Awesome game.
All things considered it's a good game. It's easy to earn extra lives and "perks". It's fun to play. I find it challenging enough to be entertaining, but not frustrating. Only downside is that the game (so far) is pretty repetitive - climb things, find things, go to next level. I am an average mom, mid 30's, play a bit a night for fun / entertainment.
While it is sometimes very difficult, ultimately, with practice you can beat anything (so far). I love this game, as does my 10 year daughter. We still haven't finished it after 6 months, there are many new areas that we have yet to reach. Lots of different skills and moves to learn. If you like the Mario games, you will love this.
I am picky about my video games and like to play on Nintendo DS - this is an old standard with some new moves.
